In the New Business Function, located in the Purchasing & Logistic Area Americas, we aim to contribute the business by identifying market and business opportunities and act on new business assignments in existing and new sourcing markets, transforming these opportunities and assignments into products and ranges- for the many people.

About the assignment

As a Business Developer, you will develop and implement common action plans with your supplier partners, delivering excellent performance in running operations and building professional long term business development. You will also identify and act on new purchasing possibilities in order to secure optimal sourcing set-up.

Being a Business Developer, you will be overall responsible for supplier performance and relationship. Among other things, you:

  • Pro-actively identify and negotiate with suppliers to provide the best pricing from a total cost perspective, serviceability and quality, leveraging tools such as commodity trends and market conditions.

  • Identify, act on and materialize market opportunities based on business assignments to support IKEA growth.

  • Lead and drive New Business projects, start up new suppliers, new materials/components and new technologies including leading new supplier mapping & evaluation, New products and material verification and qualification.

  • Are responsible for building professional and long-term relationships through the IKEA way of doing business, based on a shared business model, trust, and transparency

  • Professionally challenge suppliers to constantly improve all aspects of supplier performance according to supplier action plans

  • Partner with suppliers to continuously increase the competitiveness through new purchasing possibilities such as new technology, new material and/or production techniques

  • Be an IKEA ambassador of IKEA values and do business with Fact-based Business Leadership
